GPA policy conventions are stimulating get-togethers. This one should be no exception. As always we’ll have a provocative range of issues to consider and debate. For example, we’ll be bringing a resolution on whether Calgary should bid for the 2026 Olympics back for re-consideration. We’ll also be debating motions on how and whether provincial law should set municipal sustainability standards. With city and county council elections just around the corner (October 16), the GPA wants to expand its range of policy on these issues.
Please come and contribute to the discussion. And if you join the party before August 31, you can vote on motions proposed at the policy convention.
Another highlight of the September 30 policy meeting: you’ll have an opportunity to meet the GPA leadership candidates. Come meet the leadership candidates and hear what they have to say about the directions in which they’d take the GPA. The leadership vote will take place at the AGM on November 4th.
Our policy conventions are the best deal in town: they are free, and lunch is included. Seriously! How can you afford to miss them?
