September 26-27, Red Deer

Save the Date and RSVP Now

The Green Party of Alberta’s Annual General Meeting will be Saturday, September 26.
The Policy Convention will be Sunday, September 27.
Both will be in Red Deer at the Red Deer Lodge.

The key information about voting is below the program, near the bottom of this page.

You’ll meet interesting people, hear about and discuss important issues, and contribute to the future of the party.  You’ll be with Green Party of Alberta members and some others, not least Kevin van Tighem, Keynote Speaker on “Heart Waters (If we were in a water crisis, would we see, understand and treat our prairie river headwaters differently? Because we are, and we should.”)

Friday and Saturday Night Accommodations

Phone the Red Deer Lodge at 1-403-346-8841 and ask for a room in the Green Party block.  Say whether you want one or two King sized beds.  Group discount is $104 including breakfast between 7 and 9 am. (Confirm with RDL when you call.)

Food and Costs

No registration cost for members; $25 for non members, or buy a membership at registration: $25 for three years or $10 for one year.  No formal charge for the buffet lunch each day, but the party requests a donation to cover costs, or pay what you can.  Saturday dinner is at your own expense and so is Sunday breakfast if you don’t have a room in the Lodge.  Coffee, tea, juice and snacks will be provided in the meeting room both days.  Cash bar Saturday evening.

Fun (and Fundraising)

Silent Auction – Please bring contributions for our silent auction.  Not too big, not too extravagant, anything from your best baking to art, books, and … something intriguingly environmentally interesting.  Bring cash or a chequebook in case you score a winning bid – no credit cards.  GPA tee shirts for sale at cost ($25 – organic cotton isn’t cheap).

Saturday night entertainment – There will be a getting-to-know-you icebreaker or two in case conversations starters are needed and a cash bar. If you’d like to provide a few minutes of music, comedy, magic or other entertainment, please let Susan know: president@greenpartyofalberta.ca.

RSVP!  By September 20th we must know how many are coming

in order to make arrangements for catering and fix costs with the hotel.  Reply to president@greenpartyofalberta.ca. If you need a ride from Calgary or Edmonton, ask about carpooling.

Kevin Van Tighem is an award-winning Alberta author. His new book is Heart Waters: Sources of the Bow River.

Lunch begins at 1145 on Saturday. At 1 pm, Kevin will speak about that all-important resource, water.

“Heart Waters: If we were in a water crisis, would we see, understand and treat our prairie river headwaters differently? Because we are, and we should.”

Voting information for members
